The Cradle Coast region features some of Tasmania's spectacular and dramatic scenery,  Capitalising on Australia's richest basalt soils are many boutique scale vineyards and wineries, scattered along what must be one of the most picturesque Wine Routes in the World.

Some 15 vineyards are nestled amongst the imposing granite peaks of Mount Roland, Cradle Mountain, Black Bluff and The Nut at Stanley.   These range from small private holdings to larger commercial operations offering cellar door tastings and sales. The Cradle Coast Region's wines are increasingly gaining recognition & acclaim from national wine shows, judges and journalists, however many are still exclusively available from the cellar doors themselves.

Visitors arriving by the Spirit of Tasmania ferries into Devonport can spend a memorable day of Touring the Cradle Coast Wine Route, calling on some of the region’s best vineyards and wineries. Tasmania's wild and rugged North-west Coast, is renowned as the home of the 'Cleanest Air in the World', and also access to the purest water, derived from pristine Snow melt from the surrounding mountain ranges. These inherent 'terroir' qualities, along with the dedication and commitment of the individual vignerons combine to create an unforgettable tourism experience for all wine-savvy visitors to the region.

Whilst the dominant varieties grown in the district include Tasmania's renowned Pinot Noir and Chardonnay other varieties such as Riesling, Merlot, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muller Thurgau, Gamay, La Grein, Sauvignon Blanc and Schoenberger are also grown in boutique quantities.

Due to our westerly aspect and cooler microclimate the growing season tends to start later than other areas of Tasmania which in turn means that we have an extended growing season. The combination of the long slow growing season and late picking culminates in producing fruit with greater intensity and character resulting in some exquisite bouquet & palate.
Subtle site-specific microclimate nuances along with
unique soils and vineyard management techniques, produce a collectively diverse & exciting range of wines.

From the high snowy mountain sites through to the fertile valleys and coastal beaches, the Cradle Coast vineyards have many experiences to offer all visitors to the region.

Please explore the individual websites to find out more about visiting one or all of our Cradle coast vineyards.
